Phone app badge showing "-1"

After receiving an unanswered call, the phone app badge has been displaying a "-1", the recent/missed call logs were erased and the logs are no longer recording any calls. Regardless of the call coming in, the badge still reads "-1" and never changes, however, the Contacts list is still intact, and the Keypad and Voicemail still function normally.

I've tried all of the following to fix the issue to no avail:

reboot
force restart
install latest update
reset network settings
remove and clean SIM card

I have yet to try Reset All Settings to factory settings but will most likely do that next unless someone has any other ideas of how to fix the issue otherwise.

We understand you're experiencing an issue with your iPhone and call history, and we'd like to help you reach a resolution. You've done some excellent troubleshooting steps so far. Try these steps next:

Go to Settings > Notifications > Phone
Turn off Badges
See if the badge icon disappears,
If so, restart the iPhone
Then turn Badges back on and see if the -1 appears again.

Apple Support suggested that "In order to make sure that there is no malware in the device, I would recommend you to reset the device to factory settings." This was my last resort as well.

After backing up my phone in iTunes, resetting my phone (Settings->General->Reset->Erase All Content and Settings) and restoring the backup from iTunes, I'm pleased to announce that it corrected the issue. The -1 is no longer present and the call log in 'Recents' was fully restored (no data lost). Finally, I performed a test call from another phone and the phone app badge displayed a '1' correctly as well as logging the call in 'Recents'.

Hi Drew,

Thank you for the help. I was able to turn the phone badge off. After restarting the phone and turning the phone badge back on, unfortunately the -1 reappeared.
