iMovie zoom reset issue

I'm having a problem when using zoom on the time line. since the last iMovie update the zoom will reset randomly. This is an absolute pain and makes editing very difficult. Has anyone had the same experience? Is Apple going to address this issue? When is this going to be fixed?

Hi, DannyThePiper,

Sometimes updates can cause preferences to get corrupted and make iMovie misbehave. Try deleting preferences. Open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects.  Now see if the Ken Burns feature works properly. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

Hi Rich839.

Thank you for taking the time to give me this information. I will give it a try and see how I get on. I must point out however that my issue is not with the Ken Burns effect, my issue is regarding when you are editing anything on the whole time line, when I zoom in, at any point on the time line, the system will reset back (un zoom) and I have to try again to zoom in again. It’s very frustrating and it can take several attempts before it lets you work with the zoom stable. The longer I work with a particular project the more difficult this becomes. I will definitely try out what you suggested. Thanks again.

Oh. Sometimes people refer to the Ken Burns effect as a zoom, so that's what I thought you meant. However, as you said, go ahead and try the deleting preferences procedure.

I'm not sure that I am visualizing your issue correctly. When you say "zoom" are you referring to expanding the timeline with the slider above and to the right of the timeline? That feature is also referred to as a zoom. Or are you using the "Crop to Fill" feature to zoom a clip? Perhaps you could send a screen shot of what you are seeing? Deleting preferences should address all of the above, and would be the first thing to try.
