Help reinstalling Mac OS X on 2012 Macbook Air.

I'm trying to trade-in my 2012 mac and I am getting the "can't download the additional components needed to install Mac OS X" error. What is the easiest resolution?

MacBook Air 13″, OS X 10.11

What OS is currently installed? What OS are you trying to install?

Try booting into Internet Recovery Mode using Command + Option + R or from a bootable macOS USB installer.

Make sure to erase the whole physical drive as opposed to a volume/partition. The physical drive should appear as something like "Apple SSD ...".
