How to connect to Fiber optic internet

Fiber to ONT optical network terminal to router/gateway/firewall box, which might also be your Wi-Fi.

The fiber can be run into the building and the ONT can be inside, or the ONT can be mounted outside with wired into the building.

Your fiber ISP will either offer or will require their router/gateway/firewall box, details vary.

From that box, wired and/or Wi-Fi network connections to your computers.

Within your own network, there’s not much difference from what you’re doing now.

Though you may be upgrading some existing and older parts to allow access to the fiber speeds.

You would connect through a modem-router (built-in or separate) and optional wireless access point (built-in or separate).

Either connect by ethernet or connect by Wi-Fi.
