iPhone XR Face ID stopped working overnight

I went to bed with my iPhones Face ID working. Once I woke up i realized my Face ID stopped working.

I did the following steps:

1.Restarted my iPhone

2.Reset my Face ID

once I reset my Face ID , I keep getting a “move iPhone a little higher” or “move iPhone a little lower” and sometimes “Face ID isn’t available”

I don’t understand as to how this has happened because I didn’t drop the phone or anything of the unusual.

I tried to take a selfie on the portrait mode and it wont let me.

My apple care is expired , Will a reset work or will I have to go to some local phone shop and get it fixed.
