Hi kpwsgm,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with two-factor authentication.

Have a look at this page: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID.

"By entering the code, you're verifying that you trust the new device. For example, if you have an iPhone and are signing into your account for the first time on a newly purchased Mac, you'll be prompted to enter your password and the verification code that's automatically displayed on your iPhone."

Once you Mac is signed in with two-factor authentication, it will become a trusted device.

"Get a verification code on a Mac, even when it’s offline

If you can’t receive a verification code on your phone or trusted devices, or if none of them are available, you can get a verification code in Password & Security preferences, even if your Mac is offline.

Important: When you receive a verification code, don’t share it with other people.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Apple ID, then select Password & Security in the sidebar.
  2. Click Get Verification Code.
  3. Write down the verification code or enter it in the notification, then click OK."

Have a fantastic day!
