I’ve done everything to pair but am not getting any sound

Depending on your audio setup and its capability, you may want to change the audio output format from Auto (PCM Multichannel) to Dolby Digital 5.1 or Stereo. Adjust video and audio settings on Apple TV - Apple Support

I assume the ATV is connected to a TV and the sound is not working on that TV. A common problem is an incompatible HDMI cable. If the above tip does not work (eg change ATV to "stereo" setting) try using a different cable.
