I recently deleted a couple of apps from my iPhone X (iOS 14.4.1) - when I try to re-download from app store it says "open" rather than the "get". When I go to "my purchases" in app store - same situation, it says "open" - yet the app does not appear on my home screen. It's as if the app is still on my iPhone but app icon not on my home screen.
Any help / tips appreciated !
you must have 'removed' the apps rather than deleted.. which means they still reside in the App Library
From your Home Screen, swipe left until you get to the App Library.
Swipe downward and you'll get an alphabetical list of your apps.
Locate the app in the list or type the app name into the search field
Once you've located the app, tap/hold until it raises/selects, then drag it and it'll pop out to your Home Screen

you can delete from the App Library by locating the app and tap/hold, select Delete App
or you can go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > [app name] > Delete
If you still are unable to delete, check:
Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Deleting Apps
make sure that's set to 'Allow'
Thanks - you are right i "removed" the app as opposed to delete it.
On my home screen when I tap on app and hold it I do not see a "delete" option only
"Edit Home Screen"
"Share App" and
"Remove App"
I do not the option to "delete" the app - how do I properly delete the app?

That was it ! I needed to set Deleting Apps to "Allow"
