IPAD CHARGING ISSUES

My Ipad will not charge when plugged in. I get the lighting bolt in the battery status box but it looses charge instead. I am using an Apple plug in with usb port but the cord itself is not an Apple product. This set up charges my Iphone X with no issues whatsoever.

Be aware that the majority of iPhone Power Adapters are only rated at 5W - and are inadequate to charge an iPad, if they work at all. iPad requires a minimum of 10-12W to reliably charge.
