When connecting an external hard drive to my Mac mini my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse keeping dropping their connection. This does not occur when the external hard drive is not connected.

USB 3 is known to interfere with 2.4ghz RF wifi which will also include bluetooth.
What model is your mini?
OWC used to sell a kit to reduce the interference.
Upgrade to Big Sur latest, should fix. If not, post details on your hard drive here. Good luck!
The upgrade to Big Sur was the fix to my problem.

I did view the video about the shielding. Do you know if Apple can preform a fix for this issue?
