Encryption credentials have expired on Macbook Air running high sierra 10.13.6

My Macbook Air will no longer print to a networked toshiba printer. Coming up with 'encryption credentials have expired'.

I have removed the printer completely multiple times and reinstalled it to no avail. I have updated my iOS to high Sierra 10.13.6 (from 10.13.4), uninstalled and reinstalled printer - again to no avail. I am not the only person having this issue printing from their MacBooks today at work. Some can print and others cannot!

I work in a school so I grabbed a student Macbook to print from - same error message appeared.

I have downloaded the toshiba software for our Toshiba e-studio5516AC printer. I then reinstalled the printer user the toshiba software 'ColourMFP', rather than 'Secure airprint'. Still to no avail. The laptop can see the printer as I can see the levels of print cartridges etc and this matches exactly with the levels on the printer itself, but every time I go to print again, it looks for the printer, connects to it then pauses with 'encryption credentials expired' message.

Reading through previous forum posts, someone suggested selecting Airprint not Secure Airprint. This option does not appear on my list. I think I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers at least a dozen times today, shutting down and rebooting machine etc. Have never had this issue before today. Hopefully someone can help!

Please help!

That usually means a embedded network server and that commonly a web server in the printer is offering an expired digital certificate for the connection.

Check with Toshiba support about a firmware update for that printer, and for how to regenerate the certificate.

There’s a possibly-related certificate re-generation command on page 118 here: http://business.toshiba.com/downloads/KB/f1Ulds/18241/eS5018A_USIG_EN_0003.pdf

Hello M_I_P_S,

It sounds like you’re unable to print from your Toshiba printer even though it is showing up on your network. We understand how crucial being able to print documents can be and want to help get this sorted.

To start, we highly recommend the following resource for great troubleshooting steps on resolving printing issues on a Mac: Solve printing problems on Mac

If you’ve tried all of those steps and the behavior continues, we then recommend following the steps here: Reset the Mac printing system to solve a problem

Last but not least, we recommend testing with a different printer if one is available. If the issue only occurs with the Toshiba, reaching out directly to them for further troubleshooting steps would be the best path forward.

We hope that helps. Take care.
