Macbook Air software update seems stuck

My Mac book Air soft ware update seems stuck since yesterday morning.

the software update is not progressing. It seems to be stuck. What do I need to do.

One can try Shutdown computer by Power Button. Disconnect all external drives and connect to charger. Restart and Immediately hold - Shift - key. This does a repair Disk, clears cache files and only loads Apple Software - it will take dome time to load - Normal. This may to may not allow the Upgrade process to complete.

An update for High Sierra Ended in November 2020 and nothing newer. If you mean UpGrade - that is way different. Which New Version of macOS was being installed ?
