my iphone 6 will not connect to itunes. Is it dead forever?

We use an old iphone 6 for kid messenger and it suddenly will not connect to itunes. Is there any way I can bring it back. The phone is disabled and asks to connect to itunes.

If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
