I can’t update my MacBook Pro because it says something is open!

I can’t update my MacBook Pro because it says something is open! I don’t know what it is, I can’t find anything that is open, and I think my laptop is going crazy! Can anybody help me?

Click menu in the menu bar and choose "Force Quit".

A small window will open up listing open applications.
