folder merge problem

it's now 2021. we're up to Catalina for the Intel Macs, and Big Sur for the next gen M series Macs. Why, oh why, has not folder merging been FIXED? I'm forced to fall back to my Windows computer, just for doing this ONE thing, that isn't even a problem in Windows and Linux, simply to merge many folders into one, keeping all the data intact without overwriting anything. I don't care to have to use ditto on the command line on a mac, and even apple's version of ditto still has problems with a seamless merging of folders and data.

Hi.

The merge option still exists, however there needs to be something to merge.

Let me try to explain:

You have folder A and folder B. Folder A contains files 1 and 2, folder B also 1 and 2.

If you copy Folder B to A, then you get the question "replace folder".

If folder A contains files 1 and 2 and folder B contains file 1,2 and 3 (different then A) and you try to copy B to A, then you get the"merge" option.

Kind regards,

Richard
