Ipad Recovery key is incorrect when verifying

I have an iPad mini and an iPhone. I tried to create a recovery key on my iPad after putting in the passcode I was able to get a new recovery key to set it up. I took a picture of it with my phone so I didn't have to write it down. I proceeded to the next screen which asked me to verify the correct recovery key by putting it in correctly. I did several times and it was "incorrect", I went back out and repeated the steps again to get a new recovery key and once again it was "incorrect".


I am unable to create a recovery key due to this and I don't know what the issue is.


The device is actually for my child so it has screen time and other restrictions on it, not sure if that matters.


iPad mini 5 and iPhone XR.

Hello Alliiz,


It sounds as though you're attempting to sign in to your Apple ID on your iPad, but having issues with the verification code. To clarify a bit further, are you referring to the two-factor authentication code that is sent to a trusted device such as to your iPhone, or are you referring to the restrictions passcode you have set up for the device?
