Can you turn off iPhone proximity sensor??

Hello, I was having some trouble with my proximity sensor. It is useful for when in calls but I want to turn mine off... when I’m calls for school it now shuts the screen off. Or even when I swipe up to get rid of a notification, my screen will turn black for a few moments. It’s gotten pretty annoying

No I am in calls for school but I’m trying to pay attention to the screen and it turns off. I know it’s my sensor because I can cover it and it turns off. I know what my problem is I just want to turn it off somehow

If nothing is blocking the proximity sensor then the problem is not related to it, or the sensor is broken. Note that it is only active when you are actually on a cell phone call; if the screen turns off when you are not on a call that is a different issue.

It is not possible to turn it off. And if you are not covering it then it is not what is turning off your screen. If you are on a speakerphone call or using a headset the screen will turn off to save battery energy unless you are actively using the screen. You can prevent this by going to Settings/Display & Brightness-Auto-Lock and setting it to Never.
