Software update is require to connect to your iOS device

I'm trying to backup my iPhone, but this message pops up, 'software update is required to connect to your iOS device'. BigSur is the latest version, but has problems. I'm running Mojave and don't want to upgrade to a buggy Catalina/ BigSur. Is there any workaround available for this issue.

iOS upgrade bricks connecting to desktop (and thanks for the warning, apple) I just upgraded my phone to iOS 13.4 and now I get an error message saying I can't connect to my desktop to do backups (I run Sierra/OS10.12.6) without an upgrade. I can't upgrade to Catalina as it bricks sound engineering software vital to my work. Is it possible to upgrade just a little bit, or to roll back the iOS upgrade on my phone? I feel really hijacked here, not nice.

iOS 15 support in Big Sur I have an iMac that cannot be upgraded past Big Sur. My iphone X is on ios 15.7. When I connect the iphone to the imac via usb, i get a message saying "a software update is required to connect to iphone". I click on install and nothing ever happens. Let it run for 24 hours, nothing. Tried reboot, made sure network is ok, all good. So I basically cannot sync my iphone anymore. Suggestions?

Only one way to find out will be next time connecting iPhone to computer it will prompt is required - just choose Install

Is it possible the Update in question is to iTunes and not a macOS upgrade

If you see "Software update is required to connect to your iOS device" on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

It doesn't upgrade your Mac to a new version of macOS. It's just a small patch.
