iPhone pairing with MacBook

Until yesterday, my iPhone 6 could be answered on my MacBook Pro with a phone icon appearing in the dock. It's not a pairing that I ever remember doing (have had both for several years), but it is no longer available and completely dropped off my MacBook after hanging up a phone call. Does anyone know how that might have happened and how I can restore that feature?

PAIRING IPHONE WITH MACBOOK Pairing my iphone 7, OS15.6, with my macbook macOS12.2 IS NOT ACCEPTED. MESSAGE COMES BACK AS THE MACBOOK IS NOT SUPPORTED. Previously, pairing was ok. It is occurring for the last four months only.
