Accessing my iMac as a remote control Desktop

I received an email from a Gregory suggesting he had accessed by iMac through my web browser (safari) with the ability to work as a Remote control Desktop with a key logger that provided him accessibility to my screen and webcam. He says he collected every one of my contacts and made a video of my screen and my cam.

Of course he says he has embarrassing videos and would send them to all my contacts. Or, I can send $1298 via Bitcoin.

He did use one of my older passwords and the subject line of his email.

Is this possible? If so, how do I prevent further intrusions?

That's how they bait people. You most likely used that password on some website out on the Internet that was eventually hacked with the user-data downloaded. They include that password in the phishing email to trick the recipient that they have some kind of "proof" of their seriousness.

If you're using that password on other websites, you should change it. MacOS provide a really good way to generate long, unique passwords and keeps track of it.
