pdf converter preinstalled on macbook air 2020 not working

I just bought my MacBook and it had preinstalled "pdf converter" as an extension. It wouldn't convert anything or open documents so I ended up paying $20 for the "premium" experience but it does not work. the share tab from safari / chrome webpage opens a blank document. I try to save file to it and that doesn't work either. I am a bit peeved because I would imagine software that's preinstalled should work better than say Pdf expert.

Thank you

MacBook Air 11″, OS X 10.10

Did somebody else possibly install that app for you?

That's not a (pre-installed) app that I recognize from macOS Catalina.

The usual tool with PDF files is Preview.

Sorry, but PDF converter is NOT preinstalled. Is this the app you are referring to:

https://www.pdffiller.com/en/integrations/browsers/native-apple-safari-pdf-converter/native-apple-safari-pdf-converter.htm

That is a third party extension/app and would not be pre-installed. Only Apple apps are pre-installed.

So, can you tell us exactly how this wound up in Safari (you also mentioned Chrome - was it downloaded with that?)

Provide Apple With Feedback:

Being of no option, as of this reply, let Apple know about this thought that comes to mind.  Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what to include in updates and versions to come.

So, Provide the Feedback:

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Software/Hardware Compatibility" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "Other" for the "Feedback Area"
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Thank you for your reply. Preview yes I’m familiar with but in terms of editing it is somewhat limited in functionality.

pdf converter was there already, as an Apple extension and in the “share” menu. It’s not my preferred app for pdf editing and I really tried very hard to find another app but Apple is very limited by the extensions available in terms of pdf editing. And it doesn’t function anyway so I’m confused as to why I had to purchase a preferred Apple app that doesn’t function.
