Big Sur Maps - Editor's Picks

The persistent dropping of labels and buttons in apps in favor of the "minimalist" look drives me CRAZY, because it makes it so much harder for me to find functions I want or need.

Conversely, in an app like Maps in Big Sur, I am now forced to see this relentless list of junk that I neither need or want, with "find nearby" and "editor's picks". This unwelcome clutter full of junk drives me NUTS.

I'm begging... does ANYBODY know a way to get this nonsense to STOP appearing?

Additionally, I do not EVER want my iPhone map searches showing on my iMac, yet I cannot seem to find a setting ANYWHERE to prevent this. On my phone, under SETTINGS --> iCloud --> Maps... it is OFF, yet I can sit down at my desktop, and there is a list of every location I searched on my phone!

In my experience, 99.9% of the time that any tech is "guessing" what I want -- it is WRONG.

iMac 27″, macOS 11.2

um... yeah... I think it's a given that you can send feedback, but that doesn't garner an answer. Feedback was sent the moment I noticed the terrible interface.

The point of the post is to get a RESPONSE from someone who has found the solution or workaround to a particular issue.
