Hi All

I've made some headwind on this. I've found a workaround with this issue is to change the TTRasterizer flag in the PPD.

I've confirmed on my big sur mac that changing the TTRasterizer setting from Type42 to None on my PPD for our konica minolta copier in the office fixes the problem. I also found you can use the Secure Airprint driver to print without the error, but this isn't practical for our customers who need the finishing options.

I'm going to work on a script to auto-change the PPD's in /etc/cups/ppd to change the TTRasterizer flag on all copiers in one of our customers sites to see if that fixes the issue. Will keep you updated.

Kind Regards

Matthew

Hi All

I work with quite a few schools and we've seen this problem with Ricoh, FujiXerox, Konica, Sharp and Toshiba copiers.

We've found a PDF generated with Google will cause this error if we're using the Merriweather or Monsterrat google fonts and use either Macrons or Umlauts. Sometimes we can print with Adobe Reader, other times that'll error too and the only workaround is Print as an Image with Adobe Reader. Interestingly I updated one of my work machines to a new M1 mac mini and it doesn't have this issue. I can print PDFs with the offending font and it works fine, but printing on my colleague or our test M1 mac mini which had a clean install causes the error.

All of the copier vendors that we deal with aren't able to offer any advice, and I don't know where to go from here. There's not a lot of hits online for this issue, and I see edwardfromwanganui you're probably also from New Zealand so I wonder if it's something to do with the localisation? It'd be interesting to hear where the other people having issues are from?

Thanks John

I have validated the fonts and reset the Printing system

reloaded the drivers ( with the latest available )and also installed Acrobat reader

the only thing that has made any difference was using Acrobat Reader to print with

So I guess I will have to just wait for an Update From Apple or The Printer Manufactures to resolve the issue

Cheers

I have been seeing this issue too. After reading this I have noticed that the only common denominator is Big Sur from 5 users that I have found so far to been affected by this issue. It mostly happens when printing from Google PDF or Gdoc but I have seen it happen when printing from the system print menu and Adobe. I do see there is an update 11.2.3 that I have not tried. Hopefully, that might contain the fix?
