Unable to install Rosetta on my MacBook Air

Hello, I would like to run a Sonos S1 controller on my new MacBook Air. In order to run this controller Rosetta also needs to be installed. However each time I try to install Rosetta I get 'Unable to check for updates' message. Can anyone please help?

Rosetta and "unable to check for updates. Make sure you are connected to the internet", Can't use Zoom plus other apps. New Mac Air wants Rosetta. When I click "Install" I get the message "unable to check for updates. Make sure you are connected to the internet". But I am obviously connected to the internet.
