Advice Does NOT Work; RE: Remove a Bluetooth device from your Mac
Advice sorely lacking -
Many times removing a bluetooth device with the suggestion below simply doesn't work. Some devices get stuck somewhere in purgatory where there is no option to remove once the X is clicked, instead you're only given an option to Connect, which just cycles through unsuccessful attempts indefinitely. There used to be a work around that often worked where you could click the menu bar bluetooth icon while pressing Option and then receive an option to force remove the device. However, now with my new M1 MBAir running Big Sur that force remove option no longer works.
This is a big issue because there's seemingly no other way to reset your bluetooth connection which leaves the user with an effectually dead device (in my case speakers).
Does anyone know a workaround?
RE: (original Apple advice)
Remove a Bluetooth device from your Mac
If you want to remove (unpair) a Bluetooth device from your Mac's device list, follow these steps:
- Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth.
- Hover the pointer over the device you want to remove, then click the button
that appears
next to the device's name.
After you remove a Bluetooth device, you'll have to repeat the pairing process if you want to use it again.
