When exactly does Numbers refresh stock quote data?

I know Apple says it provides the previous day’s closing price, and I’ve noticed the stock price updated in my spreadsheet at the following midnight (EST) after close, but today my spreadsheet hasn’t updated yesterday’s closing price yet and it’s almost closing time for today. (Today is Thursday 3/25 and it’s still showing the closing price from Tuesday 3/23.) I’ve reopened the spreadsheet and viewed on multiple devices. Cryptocurrency prices update in the spreadsheet with every refresh, by the way.

Do stock prices not update at a consistent time? Could it update at 11:59pm today, then immediately update again at midnight, giving me no time to see yesterday’s data?

Or worse, do they not even always update every day?

I’m a novice at spreadsheets, but I was hoping to set up some sort of automation in my spreadsheet that would pull updated data from the sheet daily, but that might be tricky or impossible if I don’t know if and when the data is going to be updated each day.

Much appreciated!

9pm EST of the following day or same day? That’s weird because of the few days since I made this spreadsheet, mine updated twice at midnight EST after close, and then missed it the third time. But I’ll check again today after 9pm to see if it updates yesterday’s.

I haven’t updated Numbers in a couple weeks so that shouldn’t be the issue for me. But that’s bad to hear it stopped working. Hopefully Apple gets on that.
