Passwords vs Passcodes

What is the difference between my Apple ID password and my passcode? Does the passcode relate to my Apple ICloud?

Typically passCODE is a 4-6 digit code used to unlock a mobile device after you turn it on, and a passWORD which is what is used to log into your Apple ID account.

There could be other times you may need another kind of passcode such as when signing in with you Apple ID on a new device and a passcode is sent to a trusted device or telephone number as part of verifying your identity.

Your screen lock passcode is the 4 or 6 digit code you enter to unlock your device. It can also be a password if you choose that option instead of numeric code.

Your AppleID password is the password you use whenever logging into an Apple service (like these forums) using your AppleID as your user ID. Your iCloud account password is your AppleID password as you login to iCloud using an AppleID, just as you do for all Apple services - iMessage, FaceTime, the App, Music or a book store, Game Center etc.
