How can I use my Apple gift card without using my credit card?

I purchased an $25 Apple gift card and I want to use it. However, my issue is that I have my credit card account linked to my Apple ID and I have a running subscription, I don’t want to accidentally use my credit card instead of my Apple credit. I want to make an in-app purchase using the gift card. How do I make sure I do that instead of using my credit card?

For in app purchases Apple ID will use the balance of the Apple ID funds before it uses any other payment method. Once the Apple ID funds are depleted the default card will be charged.
