My new MacBook keeps freezing with this screensaver. The only way we can wake it up is to switch users and re sign in under the user who was originally using it when it froze. We don’t know what to do. We try typing keys, using the touchpad, nothing works except signing out and signing back in.

You might also check if hot corners is turned on. Basically if it is and your pointer is on the corner that is set for screen saver it automatically goes on.

Did you make sure that the other user is completely signed out of user account? You can also go to system preferences and turn off screen saver. You might wanna also try system preferences>security & privacy>general and make sure that the option to go to sleep is either turned off or extend the time.
Thank you so much for your reply, I did check the hot corners option and the hypen was selected for each of the four corners. I set it to shut off the screensaver in the event we experience a freeze again. I do not think that this is what is happening but hopefully it will help. Thank you!
I did extend the time to go to sleep as you advised, however it is going to sleep while we are in the middle of using it and sometimes in the middle of typing a document. When it is asleep there seems to be no way to wake it up. I tried setting the screensaver to 1 minute to see if it was impossible to wake it up this way, it woke up just fine when I moved my hand around on the touchpad. Then I reset the screensaver to 1 hour just to be sure it isn't falling asleep after 20 minutes of use.
Our software is also up to date. It really has me puzzled.
