Keep your device connected and wait until the recovery mode screen appears:

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPod touch (7th generation): Press and hold the Top (or Side) and Volume Down buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.

You will want to make sure your do not release the buttons until the screen changes to a charging wire with an arrow pointing an a computer.

You’re very welcome. Did you receive any type of error messages or any odd behavior when this issue occurred. If the update option fails to resolve your issue, you will unfortunately need to restore your device. This will come with data loss, unless you have iCloud backups that you can restore from.
