How to ignore Big Sur update

I am currently being prompted to update to Big Sur from Catalina. There used to exist a terminal app, software, that would allow updates to be ignored. It appears that software is no longer available. Also the terminal app softwareupdate shows the Big Sur update as not eligible for ignoring. Also, softwareupdate states that the ability to ignore individual updates will be removed in a future release of Big Sur. I find this quite disappointing. And contrary to what people might think, changing the settings in Software Update in System Preferences will not have any effect on the Big Sur update. So, does anyone know of a solution to this situation?

I don't understand the reasoning. When I updated to Catalina I lost the use of some apps. I don't know what an update to Big Sur will bring. Also, I love my desktop, I don't want to change it. And this is one app that I love that I know will not work with Big Sur. This isn't a rant just an expression of frustration.
