My I watch suddenly won’t ping my phone to find my phone( in my house). I cannot find the I on my watch. They both work for everything else

OK thanks, I reckon that is the latest available watchOS version, for series one I mean. Difficult to know what the problem really is, but you could try unpairing and then re-pairing your watch with your iphone again. That will effectively give you the factory settings, while keeping your apps and data in place. A backup is taken to your phone during that process.
On your iphone, can you see your iphone in the Find My app, ... and does the Play Sound action cause the vibration effect there?
Check also if you can still see your devices by signing into icloud.com ?
Just trying to figure out if the problem is with the iphone or watch!

How is the unpair actually failing? It was not so clear from that screenshot.
However if that fails and you are willing to compromise, then resetting is the next best action.

I hate to sound like an idiot but how do I unpair. And then pair?? Thank you so much for your help!
It could not successfully unpair and so I was directed to reset the watch what do you think?
