I have been getting messages that apple is under attack and that I need to update all my products. Is this true???

Assuming these are phone calls:
Apple does not make such calls.
All such calls are scams from criminals attempting to steal your personal and financial information. The callers will often use number spoofing to pretend they are calling from a legitimate business. The correct course of action is to ignore the calls or hang up on them, repeatedly if needed.

Have no fear, these messages are just spam. If you actually need to update your devices software you will receive a notification, and if you want to check, you can find that under Settings>General>Software Update.
