How can you created one so Sonos can read your Playlists?

This is not the case for the music app as it does not create a xml file automatically. As previously mentioned you can create one by using export library command.

You get the XML file. No more, no less. The XML file is a plain(ish) text version of the library database that can be read by other software. The XML file created with Export Library should contain both a listing of all of the tracks, and all of the playlists. I've just tried it here in Catalina and the data appears to be there on a quick inspection.

Sorry, I am confused. If I export the Library, what do I get? A file with the .xml file included. If not, why export?
I currently have Playlists on my in Music on my Mac but each time I export, it does not export Playlists.

Apple is not helpful (actually say they have been told not to help people export), Sonos is not helpful (never heard of the issue) and QNAP NAS tech service was not helpful. Both Sonos and Control4 want a XML files.
You are correct. I am working on your suggestion that I Export the Library. So far, Sonos is not reading it. It is possible the NAS software is interfering or it just may take time for Mac to transfer the file to the NAS from which Sonos reads the Music.
To be clear, my Mac holds the Music files, syncs them with a Network (NAS) drive to which the Sonos is pointed.
Not only will you need to create the XML manually, but you'll probably need to direct your Sonos software to it. Any automatic system to read the iTunes version is unlikely to work the differently named file produced by Music in a different location. I'm afraid I don't have any practical experience with Sonos so I cannot tell you exactly how to get it working, but it should be possible.

Are you saying that this produces a xml file when one does not exist in Music?
It will generate one for you. You would need to manually regenerate after changes.
