my messages no longer show names

My messages no longer show the names of the people I'm texting with, only their phone numbers. How do I change it back to the names?

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 14

Yesterday, I had turned on Settings>Messages>Show Contact Photos. I didn't know it would take the names off. I changed it back to off and powered the iPhone off and back on. That was the problem. Thank you so much for your help!

How are you managing your Contacts? Have you tried powering the iPhone off and back on again? If you are using iCloud to manage your Contacts, you can go into Settings><yourname>iCloud and turn Contacts off, power cycle the iPhone and then turn it back on again.
