Every time when I’m on a call and I take the AirPods out of my ear it cuts my call

Why do my Airpods sometimes cut in and out when I'm on a call? It happens randomly. When I'm on a call using my AirPods, sometimes they start cutting in and out. I have to put the phone on speaker to be able to use it again.

My AirPods Pro cut out during a phone call on my iPhone 11. My AirPods Pro cut out during a phone call on my iPhone 11 at least once per day. I can hear them but they can't hear me, so they end up hanging up on me. (That's pretty inconvenient when you've been waiting on hold!) Sometimes on video calls it also cuts out. Taking them in and out of my ear resolves the problem, but by then it's too late. Is there a fix to this, or are they defective and need to be returned?

Use the phone and get messages

Later, you can press the force sensor on an AirPod Pro or double-tap an AirPod to hang up or switch to another call.

So I suspect you are pressing the force sensor.
