I use Shuffle a lot while running, driving and so on. But recently it has switched to playing all tracks by the same artist together whenever I shuffle a playlist. I want to hear the playlists randomly, not four tracks by the same band.
I found threads related to this from over a decade ago but they weren’t resolved back then.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Yes, content from Apple Music though there may be some ripped CDs in the playlists too.
It happens with music of varying sizes. Yesterday I was listening to a playlist with 106 tracks and then switched to one with far fewer.
I’m using iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 14.4.1.
I’ve not noticed the icon turning off. But will check for that next time I have the issue. I will also try a new playlist and my MacBook Pro and report back.

To clarify a few points, is this happening with content from the Apple Music service?
How many songs are in the playlist in question?
Which device and software version are you using?
Are you finding that the Shuffle icon turns off?
If you create a brand new playlist, are you able to replicate the issue? Knowing this and the answers to the above will help work out steps that may help.
As another test, if you do use the Apple Music service, we recommend testing it out on any other devices you use. Does the same thing happen there?
