Adding AMD W5700 X to AMD 580X Mac Pro 2019

Hi,

I’m considering to upgrade my Mac Pro 2019 GPU and I have tried to find an answer to my questions, the current specs are:

  • 3.5GHz 8‑core Intel Xeon W processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.0GHz
  • 96GB (6x16GB) of DDR4 ECC memory
  • Radeon Pro 580X with 8GB of GDDR5 memory
  • 2TB SSD storage

I’m Planning to add AMD Radeon W5700X MPX

and I’m wondering If I keep the AMD Radeon 580X and the W5700X at the same time, I think I cannot use them as a one GPU card like the “Vega Duo II” but:

can I use them both, like one for Adobe Lightroom and the other for another application

in other hand, is it better to keep the AMD W5700X and remove the AMD 580X completely.

currently I’m using only one BenQ SW271 monitor.

I removed the 580x and inserted the 5700x. Way better performance in the 5700x. I now have four thunderbolt buses and use its HDMI port. That port gives my Dell 32 inch far improved reliability compared to that 580x. I'd think you could connect separate displays and can't help you on using at same time. The 5700x takes two slots. Its immense graphics card compared to the 580x.
