Why doesn’t my exercise ring reflect my workouts? Yesterday I did a 3 mile cycle and a 1 mile walk for a total time of 49 minutes. Each of those are tracked, but my exercise ring doesn’t give me credit for them. Why is that.

From My Experience, I usually Walk 40-45min in the Morning as soon as I wake up. I have been also been trying to go for a 20-30min walk after lunch (around 1-2pm). I am trying to walk a total of about 60min. I’ve noticed in the Mornings, My Heart Rate is Usually lower. So I walked for 45min, but sometimes my watch only logs half of those minutes. However, whenever I walk after lunch, it seems to log every single minute as Exercise Minutes. Plus, I noticed my Heart Rate is Usually Higher than than in the Mornings. I believe that the watch is gauging what your BPMs are and even Body Temperature to determine your Exercise Minutes. I even sweat a little more on my afternoon walk than my morning walk. Just some info to take into consideration.

In the Health App tap on the browse tab at the

bottom then tap activity and scroll down to workouts

then tap on workouts and in the the top right hand

corner of the screen it says add data, tap on that and

you can enter a new workout and when you're finished tap on add

at the top right of the screen.

Be aware though that this only effects your 3 rings on the day in question.

while exercising I reached the “brisk walk criteria” and I looked at my watch for the 1st 5 minutes my watch read - - for my heart rate by the time it caught up my heart rate was 140 and I got 1 minute for the 5 that I walked. Apple just refuses to admit there is an issue with the exercises (even though there are multiple complaints)… the other just records the time you exercise. You can sit your *** on the couch and get 30 minutes of exercise. The problem is the workouts fail to record appropriate heart rate. One day you could walk a 14 minute mile and not get your exercise recorded… the next you can walk a 19 minute mile and get all minutes recorded… it is inconsistent and frustrating to the users.

I have the same thing. I walk at 3.0 speed on my treadmill for 20 minutes and get 16 minutes of credit - infuriating. I give you a minute might be warm, but really? My boyfriend says it is the connection, but I do exercise for 20 minutes same speed, getting 16 minutes is BS. I should have at least 19 considering it the same speed since the workout was started…

This has been the same for me too, however I’ve been using the “workout” feature for a few years and only recently did it start shorting me my ring minutes. I first noticed when I synced to Apple Fitness+ on my Apple TV. I’d do an 20 min dance or HIIT workout, but only get 3 minutes towards my ring (sometimes less). My BPM are always 50-90% higher than my resting heartbeat, so I find it hard to believe it doesn’t register as “brisk.” I’ve tried recalibrating my watch several times and nothing changes. Sure I can choose “other” when I do workouts, but what’s the point of syncing or even having Apple Fitness + if I’m not going to get credit for the workouts. I really feel this is something that’s needs to be fixed on Apple’s end. It didn’t used to be like this. It’s very discouraging.

Accuracy is so important! Otherwise, what is the point? I’ve had the same problem of time “not counting” while using the treadmill (incline up to 10, speed at 3.0, hr . The watch seems to “over count” hard workouts too. I did two workouts today, one at 48 min and the other at 20 min...should be a total of 68min, right? It’s giving me 110 minutes instead. I’ve used other apps to track and it doesn’t count outdoor distance accurately at all either, sometimes short by half a mile. I was really surprised to discover the discrepancies, after a two week trial, I think it’s time to try another smart watch/fitness tracker. I don’t ever write reviews, but I give the Apple Watch two thumbs down as an exercise tracker.

What is the purpose of this though? Why don't you get credit for time? What if you are 300 lbs and you walk a slower paced 45 minutes? Shouldn't you still get to close your rings? Isn't the goal to motivate people to move for 30 minutes? Regardless of how intense or non-intense? Shouldn't the calorie goal be used for the intensity level? Work harder, you'll burn more and can modify that goal accordingly. It'd be appreciated if this feature could be changed. It's crushing to do an hour walk and get credit for a few minutes. I also walk dogs and sometimes I can't keep my heartrate elevated due to picking up after them, training them, etc.
