Can one get their Siri Apple TV remote to swipe better ? If not will a non Siri remote (costs less) work well with my Apple TV?

You could use an old style Apple Remote (aluminum), or program a universal remote.

Aside from drop damage, the remote shouldn’t be prone to (much) wear and tear. To help protect against drop damage, consider a third party silicone case.
Apple doesn’t do any parts servicing on the remote. If it is confirmed to not function as intended, then they would suggest to have it replaced at cost as a whole.
It's charged up so that's not the problem. Just doesn't seem to detect our fingers well anymore. The buttons controls work fine. Thanks for confirming that the non Siri remote control will work for us if we don't get this one going right. Our remote is a few years old, but has only had daily use this past year.
My Siri remote no longer swipes well or consistently. It's so bad we've missed minutes of shows we're unable to access.
