You do not have permission to open the application

I have this statement on a few apps when trying to open since my upgrade to big Sur.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Add your User Name:

This works for me:

  1. Locate: the Application in your Finder (likely in the Applications folder).
  2. Right Click: on the application's icon
  3. Select: Get Info...
  4. View: lock location fo window (bottom of window)
  5. Unlock: the lock
  6. Select: [your user name]
  7. Click: the "+" button
  8. Add: your user name
  9. Lock: the lock
