Ipencil does not connect
My ipencil won’t connect to my iPad, for half a second I get the pair option but it’s gone before I can tap it. Tried everything, restarted, forgot current device etc.
iPad Pro, iPadOS 14

Assuming that you have an Apple Pencil that is compatible with your iPad, this support page may be helpful with pairing and use of the Pencil with your iPad:

If you continue to experience difficulties, here is one of the better troubleshooting guides:

Your Apple Pencil is exhibiting symptoms of a potentially dead battery - that will not accept or hold any charge.
The tiny internal Li-ion battery is susceptible to permanent/irreversible damage through being left discharged for long periods. Even some “new” pencils can exhibit signs of failure out-of-the-box if they are “old stock”. It is essential that if you have an Apple Pencil that you charge it regularly - whether used or not - so as to protect the battery from deep-discharge.
Do not allow a pencil to remain in low-charge state for any period of time - as the internal battery will fail, rendering the Pencil useless. Setting aside an unused Pencil, for extended periods, is a recipe for premature death of the Pencil battery. A second generation Pencil should always be docked with the host iPad whenever it is not being actively used - as this will ensure that the Pencil battery is optimally charged/maintained and protected from deep discharge.
If the Pencil Battery has failed, the only remedy is to replace the Pencil. If the battery has failed and your pencil is within its one-year warranty, you should look to having it replaced by your retailer or at an Apple Store.
I hope this information and guidance proves to be helpful in diagnosing and resolving your difficulties.

I received a pencil 2 for my birthday. The charging points are on the left side—not right side of the bezel. In attempting to pair with my IPad 4 (pro)—NADA! Restarted the iPad numerous times, restarted Bluetooth, pencil showed one time and not again. It has been attached for several hours to the magnetic points and the pencil neither appears in the battery widget, on Bluetooth or in any fashion on my device. Help!
Thank you for your reply. How was I supposed to know this, is it mentioned in the user manual?
No it is not.
