Having problem setting up the printer after resetting the printing system

Hello,

I was trying to add the printer Epson L405 after updating to Big Sur. However, the following message keep showing up even after resetting the printing system.

"An error occurred while trying to add the selected device. successful-ok-ignored-or-subsituted-atrributes"

Does anyone know how to fix this issue, or does Big Sur just no longer support the driver for this printer?

It isn't even listed on Epson's website:

So first step is to determine what the actual printer model number is. Then look on Epson's website for drivers for Catalina or Big Sur. If there are no Catalina or Big Sur drivers, then you want to:

  1. Connect a USB cable between the printer and the computer.
  2. Go to Apple menu ->System Preferences -> Print & Scan
  3. Select the Option key on the keyboard while clicking plus icon under the section of the window that shows all the printers to add the printer.
  4. If the printer does not show up this way, then there is no open source driver for it either.
  5. If the printer only has an ethernet port, and you are sure the computer is on the secure WiFi that the printer is setup for (you can print to it from your phone), then the best advice I can offer is downgrade to a system that supports it.

Macs can only downgrade to the system that was available that time they were released. For more details, read this tip.
