Broken Apple Watch screen, trying to reset and control from Mac/iphone.

Hi,

I have an Apple Watch Series 2 which I bought a couple years ago. After only 8 months with my watch (with a screen protector) it stopped working and I noticed a small crack diagonally across the screen (see attached photo). The touch screen in the top half works, the bottom half it doesn't.

I have tried to factory reset it, however, I cannot click the green tick at the bottom right of the screen.

All I want to be able to do with it is to link it with my phone so that it can get the proper time and maybe measure my steps. There must be a way for me to control the watch remotely from my phone/Mac or with the buttons on the side?

any help would be appreciated,

thanks!
