Optimum mail is not working when using wiFi. Connection to outgoing server failed. Sender Email. invalid

My optimum mail does not allow me to send out mail while using the Apple Mail app and WiFi. If I turn WiFi off it and use cellular it works but if I turn wifi on I get the Sender Email invalid and connection to outgoing server failed message. I can receive emails but can’t send. If I use their web browser there are no issues. I bypassed the router but the issue still occurs. It occurs on all my devices, two Macs, three iPads and two iPhone. The iPads and iphones are running iOS 14.3. One of the Mac’s use Yosemite and the other uses Mojave. The 2014 Mac is attached by Ethernet and it behaves just like the others. It fails to send. Any ideas? Could it be the cable modem?

I figured out the problem. The netgear 6900 was altering the Mac addresses of my devices which did not correspond to anything I own and it was also not allowing certain devices to connect even though they were in the allow category. I know this was the issue because I reconnected my old netgear 3400 and everything went back to normal. I reset the 6900 to factory settings but it continued to do the same thing. I have no idea why it happened. I could not figure out how to correct that issue. I did not call netgear because my time is more valuable than the information I expect to get from them. If you have any thoughts feel free to contribute.

Hello rbruno1953,

We understand that you're having trouble with sending mail from your Apple devices. The following has some troubleshooting that you can try:

If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac - Apple Support

If you can’t send email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

We would recommend checking with your internet provider if those steps don't help. It's possible that there are firewalls or other security functions in play that could be disrupting the connection.
