HELP: How to access iMac (2010) hard disk with MacBook Pro (early 2011)?

Please HELP!

My old iMac seems to have graphic display issues that doe not allow me to perform any actions.

Before sending it to repair I'd like to access (and transfer) certain files that sit on iMac hard disk.

How can I link my MacBook to iMac? Using what ports/cables?

iMac 2010 Ports: 4 x USB 2.0, FireWire 800 port & Mini DisplayPort

MacBook Pro 2011 Ports: MagSafe power port; FireWire 800 port; 2 x USB 2.0; Thunderbolt port (up to 10 Gbps)

Many thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

You’re in luck because both computers have a firewire port, use Target Disk mode Transfer files between two Mac computers using target disk mode - Apple Support
