Hi Alwaysconfused1,

We'd be happy to help out with getting your iMessage activation issue headed towards a resolution.

With the error you're getting, this page will be the best place to start out: If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime

With regards to where the iMessages are sent from, you can check that out in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. If you only want to send/receive them via your phone number, just ensure that's the only option enabled here.

You'll also want to be sure that you're able to send/receive international SMS messages, as part of the activation process this will happen silently (not visible) in the background. If you're unable to send/receive these, you'll want to reach out to your carrier for assistance.

Lastly, if none of the above seems to help, you can also contact Apple Support directly using this link: Get Support

They'll be in the best position to assist with further investigation.

Take care!
