Hotspot/ overheating/ no data

I am wondering if anyone else has ever had this issue.. I used the hotspot on my iPhone 11 Pro, my phone got extremely hot so I stopped using the hotspot. Ever since my phone hasn’t connected to cellular data. I was sent a new SIM card and spent 3 hours on the phone with Verizon. I believe something is wrong with the hardware on the phone at this point. They are telling me I need to purchase a new phone because the 1 year warranty expired 2 months ago. If this is a manufacturing hardware issue on a very expensive phone what are my options here?
