Apple Gift Card purchase iPhone from Verizon

I purchase my iPhone through Verizon, and I'd like to use my Apple Gift Card to pay off my iPhone and upgrade early. Is this possible?

No, because you owe the money to Verizon, not Apple. And an Apple Gift Card can only be used for merchandise purchased directly from Apple.
