iPad Air 4th Gen Touch Screen and Touch ID No Longer Works

Woke up today to my iPad Air not responding to touch ID or touching the screen. It was stuck with YouTube app on screen. Screen is clean, no screen protector, never dropped device, and using latest IOS 14.4.2 . Could use mechanical keyboard to enter pin but still could not leave YouTube app.

After some research, forced a restart by pressing volume up-->volume down, then holding down power button until apple logo appears. Touch functionality came back, but from what I read in the community, this is an ongoing issue. when will Apple recognize this issue?

Touch problems with higher end Apple devices are still occurring and being posted here on a semi-regular basis.

It is still happening to the 2017 and 2019 10.5 inch screeniPadPro/iPad Air 3 models.

It has been also happening with the newer 2018/2020 11 inch ( sometime the 12.9 inch screen, but mostly with the 11ninch screen ) iPad Pros of which the new 2020 iPad Air 4 is based upon, once again.

Intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issues are still a real issue here after nearly 3 years of this nonsense.

Intermittent, unresponsive touch issues are still problematic with higher end/priced iPad models.

Do not know why this is so and why NO issues with the larger 10.2 inch screen iPad 7th and 8th gen models or other older, but still iPadOS supported, 9.7 inch screen iPad models.

As are complaints about battery life every time there is an update. As are complaints about just about everything. I don't see them as any more numerous than any other type of complaint. While it does get reported, it's not what I would call "common". But, that doesn't change my advice at all which was, if it happens again, contact Apple. In other words, the same advice you gave. ;-)
